There are many reasons to join a liveaboard to Komodo. It has extraordinary dives that do not disappoint anyone: from lovers of diving with big fish to manta rays, the largest sunfish of the ocean, sharks and, if you are lucky enough, whale sharks. Macro enthusiasts will find in Komodo world-class muck diving areas as this island, Biosphere Reserve since 1991 and included among the 7 natural wonders of the world, is located in a privileged position, receiving two streams loaded with nutrients and providing an extraordinary biodiversity.
Manta rays, sharks, dolphins, excellent macro, endless coral gardens, amazing night dives, strong currents… Komodo has (almost) everything and has become an extraordinary option for a first contact with that underwater universe called Indonesia.

Is it really diving in Komodo THAT good?
When is the best time to dive in Komodo?
You can dive in Komodo throughout the year, and there is nothing such as «best time to dive», every time is great 😉 There are more liveaboards in this route from May to November. During winter the visibility is much better but mainly becase there is less concentration of plankton. In Summer is when there is a bloom of plankton and you’ll dive with many more manta rays in many more spots. In Summer months there are more waves and stronger currents.
What certification do I need to dive in Komodo?
Many liveaboards do not require more than an Open Water Diver certification to dive in Komodo, in fact in one of our trips to Komodo we found many OWD without a problem diving in currents. But is recommended an AOWD certification and at least 50 dives. Nitrox is more than recommended in an area where 4 daily dives are made.
